Retro Floral + Botanical Artworks

Retro Floral + Botanical Artworks

One of my favorite things right now is the 1960s/70s aesthetic. And I’m not the only one! I’ve recently noticed this change more and more often, brands like Jell-O, Burger King, Pepsi….. And one of my not-so-recent loves is botanical illustration. Originally done in watercolor or colored pencils, the scientific world of botanical illustration is absolutely incredible. The realism is absolutely beautiful. But when we look at what was happening with botanical art in the 60s and 70s, the psychedelic-leaning artwork was loosey-goosey, and sometimes *gasp*not even representative of an actual flower or plant on this Earth. While my brain trends toward the former, the latter is both incredibly difficult for me to let go, but so much fun!

Here’s some of my current Retro Botanical Illustrations
